Biography

With a decade of experience leading communications, advancing legislative initiatives, and promoting equity across government and nonprofit sectors, I have worked professionally and cultivated a proven track record of impactful leadership at every level of local government: school district, city, county, and state.

  • In the California State Senate, as a Communications Director & Legislative Director, I managed a legislative team of 5, and crafted and executed a legislative and communications strategy that increased media engagement by 53%. I organized press conferences, managed high-profile district events, and secured media coverage in both local and national outlets. I delivered vital communication updates to over 250,000 constituents while also leading successful legislative packages, efforts that achieved the Governor's signature on 15 bills in 2023 alone, addressing critical issues such as health, housing, education, sustainability, and public employment. In this role, I helped to launch the Santa Clara County Youth Climate Initiative with a state earmark of $2,000,000 along with other impactful education initiatives, with a focus on youth engagement.

  • As a Chief of Staff at the Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors, I managed a team of 12 employees, including 3 communications staff, and a $2 million budget during one of the most challenging public health crises in recent history. I led life-saving communication and policy initiatives during the nation’s first shelter-in-place order, distributed daily updates to 100,000+ residents, and partnered with the County Public Health Department to establish vaccination sites and health resource campaigns. I also provided policy direction on collective bargaining, litigation, and coordinated County Special Hearings addressing homelessness and older adults issues.

  • I co-founded and built Silicon Valley Youth Climate Action, a student-led 501(c)(3) nonprofit that has empowered thousands of youth in both Santa Clara County and San Mateo County to combat climate change through advocacy, education, and policy initiatives, building a platform for future environmental leaders. We have launched impactful programs, including Youth Climate Summits (300+ attendees annually), a two-hour climate curriculum that educated over 10,000 students, and innovative initiatives like Green Career Bus Tours exposing youth to sustainable industries and career pathways. I have helped to guide student teams in Cupertino, San Jose, Sunnyvale, Los Altos, Saratoga, Los Gatos, Santa Clara, and Morgan Hill to advocate successfully for local and state climate policies, including plastic reduction, composting programs, and climate action plans.

  • As a Trustee for the Santa Clara County Office of Education, I am deeply committed to supporting County Offices of Educations and the students we serve. I monitor a $300 million budget serving over 270,000 students across 31 school districts. Over the past four years, I have helped to spearhead initiatives to advance environmental literacy and sustainability in education, including creating the annual Santa Clara County Office of Education Environmental Literacy Summit , launching an Environmental Literacy and Sustainability website, supporting the development of school gardens and tree planting on campuses, and collaborating with local school district partners on climate action.

My ability to thrive in high-pressure environments has been honed through experiences requiring sound judgment and decisive action. I excel at balancing long-term strategic projects with urgent responsibilities, navigating complex interpersonal dynamics, and meeting tight deadlines. From managing public sector budgets to crafting compelling media narratives, I excel at balancing these demands with precision and adaptability.

I am a former Classical Piano and Music Instructor, a product of Santa Clara County public schools, and the proud daughter of immigrant parents, including a public school librarian who inspired my passion for education and public service.
